Soft tissue lasers have seen an increase in usage and popularity in recent years. In the right situation, soft tissue lasers can be less invasive, more comfortable to the patient, and offer shortened healing time compared to traditional surgical techniques. Lasers can be used for many procedures in the mouth pertaining to the soft tissue such as:
- Re-contouring the level of the gum tissue in esthetic areas
- Removing cumbersome tissue during restorative procedures
- Frenectomy – adjustment of muscular attachments of the lips and tongue that can impinge on the gums, limit function, or cause gum recession
- Biopsies
